Scientist / Senior Scientist, Immune Biology (Part-time, 50%)

We combine a unique discovery platform with deep protein-engineering expertise to discover and develop novel therapeutics across multiple disease areas. Our approach evolves native human proteins into fit-for-purpose biologics.

Role Overview

Set Therapeutics is seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist of Immune Biology to help lead, develop, and expand a novel drug discovery platform focused on oncology therapeutics. You will work closely with the founding team to take charge and meet critical technical and corporate development milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Own cell line selection and culturing

  • Develop methods for transient protein expression in mammalian and cancer cell lines

  • Develop methods for isolating and culturing immune cells from human blood

  • Assess immune cell activation state using surface markers and gene expression

  • Use flow cytometry to isolate reactive immune cells from complex cultures

  • Use high-throughput sequencing to characterize gene expression and immune receptor identity

  • Evaluate potential therapeutic modalities in immune assays

Qualifications

  • Experience with immune cell culture (T cells required; B cells a plus)

  • Experience with immortalized cell culture

  • Ability to design and execute flow cytometry panels, including flow-based sorting

  • Ability to design and execute cell-killing and activation assays

  • Experience with single-cell mRNA sequencing a plus

  • Experience expressing and purifying IgG antibodies from CHO cells a plus

  • Experience with analyzing gene expression data is a plus

  • Comfortable working in a small-biotech environment

  • Clear communicator, comfortable asking questions and ensuring precision

Experience

  • Ph.D. with 0–5 years of postdoctoral or industry experience, or

  • B.S./M.S. with 5–10 years of relevant experience

Compensation

Compensation includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience plus equity in Set Therapeutics.
